Dylan began his career on the campaign trail, working his way up from coffee retriever and envelope stamper to communications director and campaign manager.
In 2010, he authored Permanently Blue: How Democrats Can End the Republican Party and Rule the Next Generation. Pulitzer-Prize winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin described it as a “spellbinding” work of “deep research and sharp analytic skill,” and Democratic strategist Paul Begala called it a “gutsy and savvy book … indispensable for all who want an Obama movement, not just an Obama moment.” Dylan has written speeches for senate, gubernatorial, and congressional campaigns, and his political commentary has been published by the Washington Post, the Huffington Post, and the Guardian.
Beyond politics, Dylan’s areas of specialty include global economics, manufacturing and innovation, energy and environmental policy, and international trade. In 2011, he assisted a prominent CEO with a book that earned praise from Warren Buffett, the Wall Street Journal, and the Financial Times.
Dylan is an adjunct professor at American University, where he teaches a course in political speechwriting. He holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School, an M.P.P. from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and a B.A. in political science from UCLA, where he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
He lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife, Megan, a digital strategist in the Obama White House. |
