West Wing Writers Names Managing Partner, Welcomes New Principal
January 4, 2018
Washington, D.C. — West Wing Writers, one of the world’s leading writing and strategic communications firms, today named the first Managing Partner in its seventeen-year history and welcomed a new Principal to the firm.
Vinca LaFleur, a Partner with West Wing Writers since 2008, has been named as the firm’s Managing Partner. In this capacity, she will lead a growing staff, coordinating the firm’s long-term strategy in concert with its five other partners, while directing its day-to-day execution on behalf of clients across four continents.
“West Wing Writers has tripled in size since 2010, and Vinca has played a lead role in managing that growth every step of the way,” said Paul Orzulak, one of the firm’s founding partners. “She’s long been one of the most strategic thinkers and forward-looking managers in our industry, and elevating her role will enable us to help even more of the world's best-known names in business, philanthropy, entertainment, and politics find, develop, and tell their stories.”
“We’ve never been a firm that has tried to ‘sell’ clients on whatever we were offering,” said LaFleur. “Rather, we've listened to clients about what they need in order to find, articulate, and tell their stories. To that end, I'm excited to help us roll out a series of new products and services, delivered with our unchanging commitment to clear thinking and compelling writing.”
Kate Childs Graham, who most recently served as Communications Director for U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, joins West Wing Writers as a Principal in its Washington D.C. office.
Childs Graham will help West Wing Writers expand its work with the progressive community. In addition to serving as Senator Klobuchar’s chief speechwriter and strategist, Childs Graham has written and worked extensively in the labor, reproductive health, LGBTQ, and progressive faith movements. She also wrote speeches for principals and surrogates during the Clinton-Kaine campaign and was a member of the 2016 Democratic National Convention speechwriting team. For many years, Childs Graham wrote a regular column for the National Catholic Reporter, and she has appeared on MSNBC and CNN.
“Kate has played a lead role in shaping the message and strategy for some of the country’s most dynamic organizations,” said Jeff Shesol, one of the firm’s founding partners. “We are delighted to join Kate’s deep roots in the progressive community to our own.”
West Wing Writers helps leaders, organizations, and brands give voice to their vision, providing storytelling and messaging that informs, influences, and inspires. Founded and led by former political speechwriters, the firm specializes in the development, expression, and amplification of big ideas. Today, it is home to 35 creative thinkers and talented writers, with headquarters in Washington and offices in New York and San Francisco.
