May 2, 2022

Washington, D.C. — Today, West Wing Writers announced that Kate Childs Graham has rejoined the firm’s Washington, DC office as a Senior Advisor. Childs Graham returns to the firm from the White House, where she served as Vice President Kamala Harris’s Director of Speechwriting.

Drawing on more than 15 years of experience in speechwriting and strategic communications, Childs Graham will work to expand the firm’s portfolio of progressive and political work while supporting a wide range of clients.

“Kate is one of the sharpest minds, savviest advisors, and best strategic writers in the business,” said Vinca LaFleur, the firm’s Managing Partner. “Today’s leaders are expected to communicate clearly and compellingly on the issues of the day, both inside their organizations and beyond them. Kate will help our clients find the message to meet the moment.”

During an historic and consequential year at the White House, Childs Graham helped shape the Biden-Harris Administration’s messaging on issues ranging from racial justice and reproductive rights to COVID-19 and climate change. She is one of many West Wing Writers alumni to serve in the Administration. Others in the White House include Jeff Nussbaum (President Biden), Steven Kelly (Vice President Harris), and Zev Karlin-Neumann (Ambassador Susan Rice); other West Wing Writers alumni in the Administration include Megan Rooney and Jasneet Hora (State), Shaan Heng-Devan (Transportation), Dave Bloom (Energy), Laurence Pevsner (US-UN), and Maany Peyvan and Ramya Prabhakar (USAID).

“It was an honor to serve as the Vice President’s Director of Speechwriting, and I am thrilled to return to West Wing Writers to bring and build on all that I have learned,” said Childs Graham. “My experience with other West Wing Writers alumni in the Administration underscored what I already knew: The firm stands apart. In its development of strategic writers and its commitment to an inclusive public dialogue, West Wing Writers is helping ensure the leaders who need to be heard, are heard.”

Previously, Childs Graham led speechwriting and messaging operations for the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
