Former Partner, Biden Speechwriter Supports West Wing Writers in New Capacity

June 13, 2022

Washington, D.C. — Today, West Wing Writers announced that Jeff Nussbaum, its former Partner and recent Senior Speechwriter and Special Assistant to President Joe Biden, will support the firm in a new capacity. As Counselor, he will connect leaders and organizations with speechwriters and strategists who can help them develop cutting-edge messages and find the words, venues, and partnerships to express and amplify their ideas.

“As so many of our firm’s clients and friends have witnessed, Jeff’s power is both in his pen and in his partnerships,” said Paul Orzulak, one of the firm’s Founding Partners. “This is a critical moment in the history of our nation and world—and leaders and organizations must speak to that. We are thrilled that, in this new capacity, Jeff will help leaders and organizations connect with the speechwriters and strategists they need to craft messages that meet this moment.”

A longtime advisor to CEOs and nonprofit and philanthropic leaders, Nussbaum is also a campaign and convention veteran. He is one of many West Wing Writers alumni to serve in the Biden Administration. Others in the White House include Kate Childs Graham and Steven Kelly (Vice President Kamala Harris), and Zev Karlin-Neumann (Ambassador Susan Rice); other West Wing Writers alumni in the Administration include Megan Rooney and Jas Hora (State), Shaan Heng-Devan (Transportation), Dave Bloom (Energy), Laurence Pevsner (US-UN), and Maany Peyvan and Ramya Prabhakar (USAID).

“I’ve always seen my role as a writer, yes, but also as a problem solver—helping leaders find their voices and the openings in the corporate, national, and global conversation where they can get their voices heard,” said Nussbaum.

Nussbaum’s highly acclaimed book, Undelivered: The Never-Heard Speeches that Would Have Rewritten History, hit shelves in May 2022. In it, Nussbaum presents the most notable speeches that were never heard, from Dwight Eisenhower's apology for a D-Day failure to Richard Nixon's refusal to resign the presidency. Undelivered has been lauded as a “fresh perspective on history.”
